Class 5

Well done to our Year 5's for sending in some amazing examples of Home Learning!
Children had an excellent time at a gymnastics competition. They have worked incredibly hard to learn a routine which they had to perform in front of judges. Year five recently travelled to Cranworth Campus to use their new climbing wall.  They were completely awesome and showed their amazing climbing skills to the max!
Class 5 have recently had an e-safety session looking at appropriate age related games and apps. They also discussed what they should do to keep them safe online and the impact that gaming can have on sleep and behaviour.
As artists, we have studied the work of Yorkshire artist Glen Williams and used his industrial landscapes to inspire our work. We used watercolour paint to create a wash background and then experimented with a range of media to decide on how to create our impressions of Caphouse Colliery.
Class 5 thoroughly enjoyed their trip to the National Coal Mining Museum. We got to spend time down a real mine and learn about how Mining in South Yorkshire has changed over time. We even got to meet the pit ponies!
As scientists and designers, class 5 have been investigating how levers and pulleys work and how they help move something with a smaller amount of force. Soon we will be making our own mine shafts with working lifts!
Year 5 have made an excellent start to reading at home this year and we already have a few superstar readers! Will it be you next week?
The Y5's have loved the space topic this year and what a better way to finish off the school year than a trip to The National Space Centre. All the children were so fascinated with everything they could do there and they behaved so well throughout!
The Y5's were lucky enough to be able to visit Ulley this year. They learnt how to sail and how to use an ore for steering the kayaks. They even managed to get Miss Jenkinson to jump off of the peer afterwards! Most of the Y5's said this was their favourite memory as they had [...]
