Class 2

Welcome to our Class 2 Page!

As the final year in key stage one, year 2 is a very important year where the children consolidate and build on their skills as independent, resilient learners in preparation for their journey into key stage two.

This is the year we prepare the children to complete SATs assessments. Attached in the useful links section is a summary of what the children will be assessed against which was shared with parents at the Key Stage One SATs meeting. Through enjoyable daily reading, maths and writing lessons, children will develop and refine a broad range of skills so that they are totally prepared for each assessment and feel confident to achieve. These assessments will form part of our teacher judgement of your child’s attainment at the end of the year. You can support your child in their progress by reading at home and completing weekly homework together.

Home Learning

Hello Year 2 and Year 2 parents and carers!
Here is your home learning for this week during week 1 of lockdown. Our book this week and next week is Cave Baby by Julia Donaldson.

Each week I will do a home learning menu which you can choose the activities to learn from. You can do all of these or some, see how you get on.

There will also be other activities downloaded onto the website and recorded lessons through dojo or parent reach, but this depends on the length of the video as dojo takes a very long time to download.

For maths, there are videos that explain each aspect of what the children are being taught:

Please click on the video link (e.g. for division) and this will help to explain the strategies we use and how we model the different parts of the activities.

To download your own free e-books, please use your oxford owl email account which you can create yourselves as parents for free:

For daily reading, writing and phonics lessons please use the following link:

The website Pobble 365 has daily pictures and questions for the children to discuss. This links into developing their reading skills and really gets them to think like a reader.

Keep an eye on dojo as I will keep you updated.
Thank you,
Miss Roper
