Year 4 Update – Tectonic Terror & Hawaii

Look how hard we have been working in Year 4! We are very proud of all of our Earthquakes and Volcanoes work that is now displayed in our classroom!

In Year 4, we have been researching the islands of Hawaii. We have been identifying reasons why people might like to travel to Hawaii for a holiday ready to write our own persuasive holiday brochures. Here are some of our findings and reasons to visit Hawaii.

  • The best times to visit are April, May, September and October for the best weather and fewer people.
  • The cool winds of Hawaii make for a perfect day in paradise.
  • You can snorkel or scuba dive with sharks.
  • Helicopter rides take place over Kauai (one of Hawaii’s unique islands).
  • You can enjoy a sunrise lava tour around Hawaii’s active volcanoes.
  • You can scuba dive, snorkel, surf or simply enjoy a relaxing swim.
  •  Explore the Thurston lava tube, which is a cave formed from a river of lava that gradually built solid walls and a ceiling. When the lava flow stopped and the last of it passed downhill, this cave was formed.
  • At Volcanoes National Park, you can get a unique, close-up look at an active volcano system.
  • There are brilliant adventures through tropical rainforests.
  • Go on an informative tour of Waimea Canyon State Park and see its stunning waterfalls.
  • Swim with sea turtles in the crystal-clear seas.
  • Visit the Pacific Aviation Museum on Ford Island and visit the historic landmark of Pearl Harbour. You can see the interesting exhibits from WWII.
  • The temperature remains relatively steady throughout the year, however August is the hottest.
  • Enjoy an off-road adventure and scrumptious picnic at Kauai Waterfalls.
  • There are lots of picturesque hiking trails for adventurous tourists.
  • Visit a farm where you can learn about the history of coffee.
  • Take a fantastic bike ride to see the volcanoes up close.
  • Explore the Pacific Ocean by taking a stunning boat trip around the islands.
  • See Hawaii’s magnificent volcanoes from above by taking a helicopter tour.
  • Hike up the Diamond Head Crater and enjoy the breath-taking views from the top.
  • Visit the Bowfin Submarine Museum, close to Pearl Harbour.
  • Take a scenic drive along the Hana Highway and experience stunning views of the coastline.
  • The cities in Hawaii are stunningly towering and are filled with exquisite hotels and restaurants, which serve delicious cuisine.
  • You can sky drive on the North Shore.
