Year 6 have started their transition project ‘Trash’. They have really enjoyed what they have read so far and they can’t wait to finish this at RCS.

So far, we have only read the first chapter. We have created a glossary to help us understand key words and we have discussed the three key themes in the book, which are poverty, corruption and friendship. We have also really focused on the setting and have really enjoyed learning all about the Philippines. We couldn’t believe that children really lived on trash piles and worked from as young as 3! We feel really lucky. We have predicted what we think will happen in the story and we have also based our writing on the story.

We are currently writing a travel brochure on the Philippines, which you can see from our working wall.

Have a look at our amazing work!
