**School will be closed on Thursday 8th June**
As you know, our mobile classroom is used as a polling station for both local and national elections. We have usually remained open, with fencing from the car park across to the mobile to allow access to the public.
However, after the dreadful events of Monday night’s terrorist attack, the government have raised the threat level to critical. Whilst there is no information regarding any suggestion of a security risk for us, I have had to consider, very carefully, the safety of our children.
I have therefore decided to close the school to children on Thursday 8th June and have been granted an additional INSET by Rotherham LA for this purpose. Having spoken to our Executive Headteacher, Mr Jessop, other schools in a similar position are also choosing to close instead and ensure that there is no risk to the children being on site.
The polling station will be set up in the same way as last year, with access through the staff car park, but the playground will remain locked and staff will be working in the school. I apologise for the late notice but hope you understand the considered reasons behind it.
For the Y5 children who have selected to take part in Bikeability training, this means that the course will now take place on Friday 9th June and Friday 30th June instead.
