Welcome
to Year 3
Mr Sutherill
Meet your teacher
Mr Sutherill
Hello Year 3. My name is Mr Sutherill and I will be your new class teacher. I can’t wait to get started and guide you through your first year in Key Stage 2. I am really looking forward to providing you with amazing and exciting learning opportunities which will make this a year to remember.
Outside of school, I am a huge sports fan. My main hobbies are playing golf and running – I try to do both as much as I can in my spare time. I also love to watch football and I am a big Manchester United fan.
Reading is another big part of my life. I love to read every day and enjoy reading lots of different genres of books. My other main interest is travelling. I find new places fascinating and try to visit as many different places as I can – my aim is to visit 50 countries in my lifetime.
Meet your teaching assistants
Mrs Clarkson
My name is Mrs Clarkson and I cannot wait to work with all of you again in Y3! My hobbies include a lot of craft work and I love to crochet! Y3 is a special time where you are learning a lot and gaining lots more independence in KS2. I cannot wait to see you grow!
Class Information
We will continue to use our Class Dojo account to update you with the latest news and achievements at school and within our class. The Dojo app is a great way to instantly share children’s success and use as talk activities at home.
Exciting and active PE sessions will continue to be delivered twice per week and one of these will be taught by one of our expert practitioners who specialise in PE. Please ensure that you have full PE kit, ready to enjoy these lessons and become fit and healthy.
Your attendance this year is extremely important and is the key to your success. Please ensure you are on time, every day and ready to learn in the classroom. I’ll see you in September!
Areas of Learning
We have an exciting curriculum planned and the children will be taught exciting lessons which will enable them to become geographers, historians, scientists to name just a few. We have planned some wonderful learning opportunities for the children and will be taking part in some exciting class visits to further support our learning at school. In English, we will continue to use a wide range of quality texts that children will love reading and bringing to life through creative activities and support our writing. Our maths learning will continue building on our understanding of number and support us with becoming more fluent with our number facts and knowledge of multiplication and division and how to use this in real life situations.
