FS2’s Reading Journey

We are incredibly proud of our FS2 children and the progress they’ve made on their reading journey this year. They’ve been working hard to develop not only their reading skills but also a genuine love of reading and reading for pleasure.

One of the highlights of each day is their independent reading time after lunch. During this quiet session, the children choose whether to read on their own, with a grown-up, or alongside their friends. Some enjoy returning to familiar favourites, while others challenge themselves with new texts – often choosing books from our guided reading sessions.

Many children now take it in turns to be the teacher and read a story aloud to the whole class at the end of the day – a moment we all look forward to! What’s been most inspiring is the way our FS2 children encourage and celebrate each other’s achievements. The kindness and support they show every day is fantastic.

Well done, FS2!
