The Year 2 classroom transformed into a busy local supermarket today as pupils took their maths lesson out of their textbooks and into the “real world.”
Role-play is a fantastic way for children to understand the concept of money, and the class had great fun stepping into the roles of both shoppers and cashiers. During the activity, they practised recognising different coins, adding up the cost of items in their basket, and using polite customer service and clear communication while interacting with one another.
Miss Roper and Mr Sutherill also joined the lesson as part of their maths learning walk around the school, and it was wonderful to see the pupils so engaged in their learning. Well done, Year 2!
