Welcome

To class y1

Welcome to Year 1/2. This year you will have two teachers Mrs May and Mrs Breedon. We are both looking forward to meeting you and can’t wait to begin our exciting learning journey together.

Meet your teachers

Miss webb

Hello Year 1!
I am so excited to welcome you all into Year 1. My name is Miss Webb and I will be your class teacher. Myself and Mrs Clarkson cannot wait to help and watch you continue to grow into amazing Ashwood learners.

I have been teaching at Ashwood Primary school for the last 3 years. When I’m not at school I love going on long walks with my dog Tilly and spending time with my friends and family. We are going to have lots of fun together this year, with lots of new learning and adventures. I cannot wait to meet you all and watch you all grow.

Mrs clarkson

Hello my name is Mrs Clarkson and I started working at Ashwood Primary 9 years ago. The school has a very special place in my heart as I have 3 children and they all attended Ashwood. I also have a sausage dog called Dottie who I love having snuggles with when I get home. I am very excited to spend some time with you all and start our amazing learning journey together.

Class Information

Our Class Dojo Page will be updated regularly with lots of pictures, messages and dojo points- it is important that you have access to this.

Our PE days will be uploaded to our Class Dojo page when this has been confirmed. Children will need to wear their Ashwood PE kit. This includes: a plain white t-shirt, plain black shorts or a black tracksuit and trainers. All jewellery must be removed for PE.

Each child will be given an appropriate reading book and reading diary. It is really important that these are returned to school daily so we can listen to them read as much as possible! We encourage children to read 3 times a week at home.

Areas of Learning

This year we will become great geographers, historians, scientists and artists along with lots of other exciting learning.

As part of our history learning, we will be looking at the history of our school, transport and the seaside!

In science, we will be exploring plants, space, animals, the human body, forces and electricity.

As part of our art lessons we will be learning new skills in drawing, painting, sculpting and printmaking.
