Textile Art in FS2

Recently, FS2 have been working on art inspired by the incredible textile artist Anna Ray. Like Anna, the children explored how threads, textures, and fabrics can be combined to create something beautiful. They began by developing their fine motor skills, carefully practising weaving and threading and learning to work with patience and precision.

Once they had mastered the techniques, it was time to bring everything together. Working collaboratively as one team, they combined their individual pieces to create some stunning final artwork.

Drawing on their previous learning about Wassily Kandinsky’s vibrant geometric patterns and the natural designs created by local land artist James Brunt, the children chose to make their piece in the shape of a circle. This shape links their artistic journey so far, connecting their classroom learning with inspiration from the world around them.
