Y1 Learn about Addition in Maths

Y1 have been learning all about addition in Maths. We have used lots of different resources to help us add one-digit numbers and have even been writing our own number sentences!

Large-Scale Art Project

Ashwood have recently taken part in a large-scale Art Project with Sheffield Cathedral and artist Peter Walker. The children had great discussions about the meaning of peace and what it means to them. Each child then created their own Peace Dove as a symbol of Peace. Together we have created our own Peace Doves sculpture.

Y1 Outside Learning

In art, Y1 have been learning about the artist Claude Monet. We know he paints landscapes. We went on a local walk to take pictures of different landscapes from our local area that we would like to paint.

Y4 Visit Rawmarsh Library

Y4 had a great afternoon at the library. We had a talk with Nicki and Neil who run the local food bank, where we also dropped off supplies. We then had a tour of the library and carried out some fun activities. We can not wait to visit again soon

Y4 Rectilinear Shapes

This week in Maths we are beginning to look at area. We used post-it notes to create different rectilinear shapes that had the same area.

Y5/6 Chatterbooks Sessions

Pupils from 5/6 have enjoyed taking part in the Chatterbooks session with Wendy from Rawmarsh library. Each week, they’ve taken part in lots of engaging activities around a particular book or genre.

Y4 – The Aswood Way

In PSHE this week we have been looking at why we have the Ashwood Way and how it impacts us. We have then been working in teams to display this on posters. We have discussed the roles of each person within a team and what makes good teamwork.
