Mrs Smith Recommends📚

Ashwood Loves Reading! ❤ This week Mrs Smith has chosen a book she loves to read – The Smeds & The Smoos by Julia Donaldson. It is a wonderful story and contains lots of beautiful illustrations by the incredible Axel Scheffler.

World Book Day Madness

At Ashwood we have a love of books every day of the year. For world book day we dressed as our favourite book characters, creating our own costumes! We all looked amazing and just like we had stepped out of a book !

Y4 Artist Focus

Year 4 are focusing on the artist Mackenzie Thorpe this half term. We visited the top of Rawmarsh, where we took scenic photos of the surrounding area. We then tried to recreate Mackenzie Thorpe images of adding a splash of colour.

Y4 First Aid Training

🩺Year 4 have been learning first aid today. They shared what knowledge they already knew. They were then shown then demonstrated how to make a sling. We looked at how to help people that faint.

Foundation’s Sentences🖊

Some of the children in Foundation took their independent dictated sentences to show Mrs Smith in Year 6. ‘I’m so proud of myself. I wrote a tricky word and I used a full stop’ – Student A ‘I am really proud because I tried really hard and I used phonics to help me’ – Student B

Miss Roper Recommends 📚

Determining Data with Year 4 💻

Last week Year 4 have been looking at how to input data in ICT using google sheets. We collated information on the class’s favourite pet, colour and food. We then transferred this data onto a spreadsheet and looked at how to produce graphs to show the information. 📊
