At Rawmarsh Ashwood, we believe every child deserves a wide range of exciting, meaningful experiences. That’s why we’re proud to follow the Wickersley Partnership Trust Entitlement and Enrichment Promise – a commitment to providing every student with opportunities to take part, belong, and thrive.
This year, we’ve had an incredible response from our students, who got involved in 18 different sporting events through School Sports Games, leading to a total of 300 student participations across the school!
Throughout the year, students from every year group embraced the opportunity to get involved. From football, rugby, and swimming, to climbing and taking part in community events like the Bluebell Wood Colour Run and the Rotherham Baton Relay. One of the standout highlights was the Year 5 and Year 6 Bluebell Wood Colour Run, which saw an incredible 40 children take part, raising money for a brilliant cause while having lots of fun along the way.
We’re also proud of the steps we’ve taken to ensure equal opportunities for all our students. There was a wonderful balance between boys and girls participating in clubs and events. In addition, we ran dedicated girls-only teams in sports such as football and rugby, including participation in the Premier League Girls Cup. This reflects our ongoing commitment across WPT to support girls’ football through the FA “Let Girls Play” initiative, helping every child find their place to shine.
Ensuring that our enrichment offer is accessible and inclusive is central to the WPT Enrichment Promise. That’s why we’ve made sure our activities remain free of hidden costs and open to every student, regardless of background. This inclusive approach extends to our students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), who made up nearly a third of all event participations this year. Many SEND students particularly enjoyed activities like the Colour Run and climbing, where they could engage, challenge themselves, and experience success in supportive environments.
Perhaps one of the most telling signs of success is that nearly half of all students chose to return to more than one club or activity. This shows just how much our students value and enjoy the opportunities we offer – and why we’re so proud of what this year has brought.
Here’s to another year of sport, inclusion, and achievement at Rawmarsh Ashwood! Thank you to all our families for your ongoing support. It’s been a fantastic year.
