Maths in FS2

Subitising is an important mathematical skill that we often take for granted. It is the ability to recognise a number of objects instantly without counting – for example, when you roll a dice and immediately know how many dots there are.

In FS2, the children have been practising this skill a lot! They started with numbers 1-3 and then moved on to 4-5. To help with their learning, they made their own subitising cards to sort and created subitising collages, which helped them spot quantities quickly and confidently.

Well done, FS2!
