Welcome

Miss Webb
Meet your teachers
Miss webb
Hi I’m Miss Webb. I have been teaching at Ashwood Primary school for the last 4 years. We are going to have lots of fun together this year, with lots of new learning and adventures. I cannot wait to meet you all and watch you all grow.
Miss Ramzan
Hello! My name is Miss Ramzan and I can’t wait to support you all in your transition to year 1! I am REALLY looking forward to be a part of class 1 and getting to know you all. It’s going to be a fabulous year! I can’t wait for all the fantastic learning which will take place, along with all the exciting experiences we have in store for you.
Mrs atkinson
My name is Mrs Atkinson and I am a teaching assistant. I work one to one with some children across the day and support a small group during provision.
Class Information
Our Class Dojo Page will be updated regularly with lots of pictures, messages and dojo points- it is important that you have access to this as lots of important information about school goes on here, including celebrating your child’s achievements.
Phonics
In Year 1 we continue to progress in phonics through the Bug club phases. Staff meet with the EYFS team to discuss progress made in phonics and early reading in Foundation stage and look at next steps needed for the children in Y1. Reading books are fully decodable and follow the Bug Club scheme. Reading at home with your child is really important to support their progress in their early reading skills
Our PE days will be uploaded to our Class Dojo page when this has been confirmed. Children will need to wear their Ashwood PE kit. This includes: a plain white t-shirt, plain black shorts or a black tracksuit and trainers. All jewellery must be removed for PE.
Areas of Learning
This year we will become great geographers, historians, scientists and artists along with lots of other exciting learning.
As part of our history learning, we will be looking at the history of our school, transport and the seaside!
In science, we will be exploring plants, space, animals, the human body, forces and electricity.
As part of our art lessons we will be learning new skills in drawing, painting, sculpting and printmaking.
