BSL Afterschool Club

Some of the Year 4, 5 and 6’s have been accessing Sign language sessions after school, every Wednesday, since January this year.

They have learned so much in a short space of time how to communicate with the hard of hearing/deaf community and have started to raise awareness throughout school.

The group have learned to sign to ‘The Climb’ by Miley Cyrus and the rest of the school have joined in during singing assemblies.

The group invited Clare Armitage from Deaf Connections into school to do a whole school assembly. Clare showed the children how to sign the alphabet and how to sign to the Rainbow song.

The children were really enthusiastic about joining in and have put together a booklet of ‘signs’ in every classroom.
