FS1 Learning Update

Our focus rhyme last week was ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’. We learned how to perform this using Makaton and practiced matching star counters to the right numeral.

We also refined our fine motor skills to make star biscuits. The children manipulated the playdough and used the cutters to create star shapes of different sizes. Some were bigger than others and we started using language to describe this.

We also created some night time scenes using an art technique called ‘printing’. We tried to print the right number of stars to match the number in the sky.

In addition to this, we had some very windy weather at Ashwood Primary School, so we also created some kites using our outdoor resources. We used our gross motor movements to create big shapes with our arms.
