One of Ashwood Ways is ‘We Dream Big’ and as part of the WPT Careers Curriculum, some of our students recently got the chance to do a Q&A session with Miss Roper, to discuss her career path in education such as how she became a teacher, and her experience in the role.
Here is what they found out!
Miss Roper has a BA (Honours) Degree in Primary Education, and an English Degree, which kick started her career in education – something that she wanted to do to help children become the best possible version of themselves, and support them in their learning.
She worked in many different schools across Rotherham and Sheffield for 25 years before landing a role at Ashwood, where she served as Assistant Head for four years. Upon gaining a National Professional Qualification for Headship, Miss Roper advanced her career and became Headteacher – a role that she has now been in for three years.
Miss Roper’s favourite thing about being a Headteacher is seeing how the school and staff makes a real difference to the children, and how they grow and progress in their learning.
Well done to our Foundation Stage students who took the time to interview and find out more about Miss Roper!
