Appreciation at Ashwood

This week in assembly our theme was “Appreciation”. We listened to A wonderful world by Louis Armstrong and thought about the meaning to the lyrics.

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself what a wonderful world

I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself what a wonderful world

The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do
They’re really saying I love you

The children had some really good points in discussion around the meaning to the lyrics and how it relates to their own lives.

“I am grateful for the friends I have at Ashwood” – Noah.
“I am grateful for the staff at Ashwood and how they help all of the children.” – Kierrah.

We spoke about our upcoming Harvest festival and how this year we are donating food to the Rawmarsh foodbank to help others in need. Y4, Y5 and Y6 will be representing school at the High Street Centre church for our Harvest festival.
